Where does Lush purchase these almonds?
Lush UK* sources ground almonds from Almendrehesa, a Spanish supplier located in Granada, from which we also purchase organic almond oil. The company was founded in 2016 by twenty farmers, driven by a desire to improve their land and their lives. Eight years later, there were more than fifty. They are part of a network called AlVelAl that aims to restore degraded ecosystems and land using regenerative farming techniques, among other things.

All farmers that Almendrehesa works with sign a Commitment to Regenerative Agriculture, which includes the minimum standards below:

The use of compost as fertiliser and almond tree prunings as mulch.
Soil vegetation cover with careful management to increase water retention.
Water management practices, including the implementation of swales or ponds.
Erosion prevention practices, including dikes and dams.
Diversification of almond tree varieties used.
Lush�s ground almonds are made from 10% regeneratively grown organic almonds and 90% conventional almonds. They all come from the Andalusia region, and 99% of the crops are rain-fed.
