Dorset Sea Salt was founded in 2017 by a man named Jethro using a small �3000 loan from the Prince�s Trust. They are located on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, not far from Lush�s manufacturing site in Poole. Their aim is to fill the void in the local industry by combining traditional and modern production methods. Dorset Sea Salt harvest the seawater from Chesil Beach via a pipeline around half a mile out to sea, collecting the water to take back to their production facility to extract the salt.

Dorset Sea Salt�s aim is to fill the void in the local industry by marrying both ancient and new production methods. They work closely with leading environmental health and marine organisations to safeguard human and animal health, enable food security and support marine economies.
